Cape San Blas, FL| Family Vacation | Gina Cristine Photography
It’s no secret that my husband and I love to travel and always like trying out new places. A couple of weeks ago we went to Cape San Blas, FL and absolutely fell in love. It is on the panhandle of Florida, right on the beautiful Gulf of Mexico. I found out about Cape San Blas from blogger Kevin and Amanda – by clicking on their link it will take you to her blog of their stay. Our main reason for going on this trip is after we read that it is completely dog friendly, right down to having pet bowls and towels in the houses for you. Call us crazy, but the 15 hour drive down with a 9 month old and 3 year old didn’t scare us off either!
We couldn’t have been happier with our decision to go. We went with some of our friends and stayed here in a three bedroom town home also known as Barrier Dunes #15. It was steps away from the beach and absolutely perfect for our two families and Bailey. What I think my husband and I loved most was this town is really small, quaint, and totally non commercialized. You won’t find miniature golf courses and dinner shows there. It was a totally laid back, relax on the beach every day kind of vacation.
These rentals also came with almost everything you could think of needing – beach toys, chairs, umbrellas, fishing supplies, fully stocked kitchen down to seasonings, etc. It made driving down there even easier by not having to worry about bringing a lot of extra items. One stop at the Piggly Wiggly for food in town on the way in and you’re all set to enjoy your vacation!
The beach was absolutely gorgeous! It was by far one of the cleanest beaches I’ve even been on. I was a little surprised since it was dog friendly, but this beach had pristine white sand. The icing on the cake was that because of Cape San Blas’ location the sun sets over the water every night, it made for one very happy photographer. 😉 Also, it was as if we had the beach to ourselves…AMAZING!
These town homes are also less than a mile to St Joseph’s State Park. The State Park was great because on one side of the road was the ocean and on the other side was the bay that was completely calm and shallow, perfect for the little ones. We walked out a couple hundred feet and the bay never got over our knees. There was also plenty of hiking trails perfect for wildlife viewing.
Below are a few of my photos from our vacation, keep in mind I barely did any editing to them. This place is just that amazing!

One happy dog!!
I’m sure you recognize this sweet face – Caleigh had an absolute blast on this trip.
Depending on the tide from the day before we would sometimes find spots on the beach covered in these amazing shells.
How gorgeous does this look??? I wish we were back there now!
Of course I had to take some time for some new family photos on the beach at sunset.
Below are some pictures from one of my top favorite moments on the trip. One day when we were driving back from a nearby town we saw that the fire station was having an open house and decided to stop by. It was a volunteer station and everyone there was so nice. Once they heard that my husband was a fireman as well, the Chief asked us if we’d like a ride in the engine to see their other station. Even Bailey got to go for a ride and Caleigh loved sitting in front with her new helmet they gave her.
This trip was an absolute blast and we are already planning our next vacation down to Florida’s “Forgotten Coast”.
