We had an amazing day at sea as we set sail for Kotor, Montenegro. We filled it with cupcake making, sushi making class, and a shocking surprise: flowrider lessons!

We were thrilled to explore Kotor. Our excursion wasn’t until the afternoon, so we had the whole morning to explore the city. It reminded me a lot of Dubrovnik, Croatia. The city is surrounded by a massive stone wall, and there are cannons all around still. The views from the wall over the bay were breathtaking. We had a great time walking around and browsing the little shops. There was something new to see around every corner.

Next, we grabbed a quick bite to eat and headed to our speedboat to see the blue cave. This was the most exciting part of the day! We would have loved to see the blue caves in Capri, but the boat didn’t offer excursions, and we were worried about getting back in time if we went off on our own.

As we sped through the Bay of Kotor, we saw so much beauty and history. We learned about tunnels built into the mountains to hide submarines during WWII, an old prison on its own island that was turned into a concentration camp during WWII, and then a luxury hotel that’s now empty.

Pulling up to the blue caves, it looked like our boat wouldn’t fit inside or that there would be anything to see. But once we got there, it was the most spectacular bright blue water I’ve ever seen. We wanted to jump in, but we couldn’t on this particular excursion. We did see another boat in there with people swimming, so I’ll definitely look into doing that if we ever go back.

After we left the cave, we headed to Zanjice Beach for some swimming and relaxation. I’ll admit, I’m not a big fan of cold water, so I think I only got up to my knees. But the kids had a blast swimming around. I also didn’t know that the beach was going to be so rocky. The shoreline was also very rocky. So, I would suggest bringing water shoes to this location.

Finally, it was back to the boat in time for a gorgeous sunset.
