Celebrating Ava with senior photos has been one of the sweetest parts of this season for me. She’s not just a client—she’s a close friend—and that made our time in Chicago feel even more special.

We had been dreaming up her session for months, wanting to capture all the little pieces that make her who she is. It even turned into not just one session, but two! (I can’t wait to share the second vibe soon.)

For this first one, the city was our stage. Since Ava is a theater kid through and through, the Chicago Theater District was at the very top of our list. We wandered past the marquees, soaked up the lights, and made sure to capture the energy of a place that means so much to her. She also wanted the softer side of the city—skyline views and time by the water—so we blended those in, too.

The whole morning was filled with laughter, exploring, and just enjoying being together. Honestly, it didn’t even feel like work—it felt like an adventure with a friend, documenting such an exciting milestone in her life.

When we finally looked through her gallery (all 150 images of it!), narrowing down favorites felt nearly impossible. Ava was just as in love with her photos as I was.

I could share every single image from her session, but here are just a handful that make me smile the most. I’m so grateful I got to capture Ava in her element, in a city she loves, during such a special chapter of her life.
