gina cristine photography Christian and Katherine truly adore one another – their romance was inspiring and infectious. You can see it in their eyes, the way they speak to one another, the way they laugh together at an endless stream of inside jokes. There’s so much care and love between them that photographing their wedding was as simple as being in the right place at the right time.

When I entered Katherine’s room the morning of her wedding, I was delighted to see her calm, smiling and full of love. No stress, no pressure, just peaceful joy. I knew then that it was going to be an amazing day filled with love, celebration, and the sort of love they write movies about. I was also pretty excited to see the Tiffany boxes and the Badgley Mischka shoes – I can never get enough of high fashion bride.

Tom and I loved the colors they chose. The elegant winter florals were perfect for their January wedding. The teal and blue popped with bright flowers and peacock feathers added a little spirit and fun. We were all totally obsessed with the lights that draped over the street of downtown Oak Park. They added an air of Hollywood romance to their photographs and gave them a quaint, hometown feel.

Their families were amazing people – sweet, fun, photogenic and ready to celebrate! Everyone was truly invested in what this day was actually about: Christian and Katherine’s love and union.

The receptions was held at the historic FitzGerald’s Nightclub – if you don’t immediately recognize it, you will. FitzGerald’s has a charming history…. Part of “League of Their Own” was filmed here. Remember the scene where the girls go to Suds Bucket? You know the one – they all dance the night away?! That’s right – this is the same venue, and the same dance floor! This wedding party danced where Madonna danced!!! And boy, did they have some moves. In all honesty, both families absolutely loved to dance and had a blast doing it. This beautiful, perfect day of celebration ended in an evening of celebratory dance, hugs and many great photographs.
