Sunflower Proposal | Mark + Kayla | GCP by Nicole

One of my favorite things about being a photographer is always being “in the know”. I am an excellent keeper of secrets, whether it’s birth announcements, gender reveals or surprise proposals like Mark’s proposal to Kayla at Thompson Strawberry Farm.

Mark and I had discussed all the plans beforehand and I was so excited to be a part of this special moment of theirs. Truly a day they would never forget. I played the part of a discrete sunflower enthusiast staying just far enough away and pretending to take photos of sunflowers if they started heading my way. Clearly Kayla did not know our plan so it took a little persuading on Mark’s part to keep her attention. She was really enjoying searching for the perfect sunflowers to cut 😆

Kayla was truly surprised when Mark got down on one knee and finally proposed. I loved the moment when she finally realized that I was there shooting the whole time as well. Even better was that right after the proposal we immediately turned it into an engagement session and had all the gorgeous acres of sunflowers all around us as a backdrop.
