There are some events where you walk in and immediately know just how much love and thought went into every single detail—and Courtney’s baby shower at Gibson’s in Oak Brook was definitely one of them.

From the beautiful shades of blue and green to the florals, personalized details and perfectly set tables, Courtney’s family created such a gorgeous celebration to welcome her baby boy. Even the guests seemed to get the memo, arriving in the prettiest shades of blue and looking like they were part of the décor themselves!

One of my favorite details of the day was the incredible flower bar provided by Moment in Time. Guests were able to choose their own flowers and create a bouquet to take home, which was such a fun and unique favor—and also made the room look amazing. Moment in Time also created the beautiful photo backdrop for guests to use throughout the shower.

But as much as I love photographing all of those carefully planned details, my favorite part of photographing events like this is what happens once everyone arrives.

After capturing the room before the celebration began, I was able to simply step back and document the afternoon as it unfolded. Friends and family greeting one another, hugs between people who may not have seen each other in a while, conversations around the tables, laughter, group photos and all of those little candid moments happening in between.

Those are the photographs that bring you right back to the day.

Of course we made sure to get the traditional photos of Courtney with her family and friends, but so much of the gallery tells the story of what it actually felt like to be there. That is always my goal when photographing a baby shower or special event. I want you to have beautiful portraits and photographs of all the details you worked so hard to plan, but I also want you to see the moments you may have missed while you were busy enjoying the celebration yourself.

And this little boy is clearly entering the world with quite the crew waiting for him. He is already surrounded by so much love.
